How to Fix HDMI / DisplayPort No Signal or Monitor Not Detected on the Beelink GTR9 Pro
Causes
- BIOS primary display output priority defaults to the USB4 ports (with DP Alt Mode) instead of the dedicated HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 2.1 ports — the GTR9 Pro's UEFI BIOS may enumerate the USB4 video pipeline first during POST, leaving the physical HDMI and DP ports in a secondary state that Windows does not recognize as active display outputs
- HDMI 2.1 cable incompatible with 8K 60Hz FRL (Fixed Rate Link) signalling — many HDMI cables labeled "High Speed" (18 Gbps) cannot carry the 48 Gbps FRL4 signal required by the GTR9 Pro's HDMI 2.1 port at 8K 60Hz, resulting in a black screen with the monitor reporting "No Signal" even though the port is active
- DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 cable bandwidth limitation — the GTR9 Pro's DP 2.1 port supports up to 80 Gbps (UHBR20), but many DP40 and DP54 cables on the market only handle 40 Gbps or 54 Gbps, causing intermittent signal loss, flickering, or complete failure to detect the monitor at high resolutions and refresh rates
- AMD Adrenalin driver conflict when both the Radeon 8060S iGPU output (HDMI/DP) and USB4 DP Alt Mode outputs are active simultaneously — the AMD display driver can exhaust the available display pipes (the Radeon 8060S supports up to 4 independent displays, but each display pipe must be allocated correctly; hot-plugging monitors in a different order than boot can leave pipes mapped to phantom USB4 outputs, starving the physical HDMI/DP ports)
- Monitor EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) handshake failure — the GTR9 Pro's AMD PSP (Platform Security Processor) firmware can block the EDID read from certain monitors during fast boot (Windows Fast Startup or UEFI Fast Boot), causing the system to believe no monitor is connected to the HDMI or DP port and disabling the output entirely until a full cold boot
- UEFI Firmware display initialization bug on early GTR9 Pro BIOS versions (pre-v1.06) — the GOP (Graphics Output Protocol) driver does not properly re-initialize the DP 2.1 PHY after the USB4 controller has been enumerated, causing the DisplayPort output to remain dark if a USB4 display was connected during the previous shutdown
- Incorrect display mode selected in Windows Display Settings — the GTR9 Pro may enumerate the HDMI or DP display as "Display not active" if the monitor was previously set to "Extend" or "Duplicate" on a display that is no longer the primary; Windows saves this display topology across reboots, and if the monitor is detected late in the boot sequence, it may be assigned a disconnected topology state
How to Fix
- Force a complete cold boot with displays connected. Shut down the GTR9 Pro normally (Start → Power → Shut down). Disconnect the AC power cord completely. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual charge from the capacitors. Reconnect all monitors via HDMI or DP (but not USB4 displays at the same time — test with one monitor first). Reconnect AC power and boot. This fully resets the AMD PSP video pipeline state and forces a clean EDID enumeration from scratch.
- Verify your cable meets the required specification. For the HDMI 2.1 port (8K 60Hz), use a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable (48 Gbps) — look for the HDMI Licensing Administrator certification hologram. For the DisplayPort 2.1 port (8K 60Hz), use a certified DP80 cable (UHBR20, 80 Gbps) — look for "DP80" or "UHBR20" printed on the cable jacket. Budget cables labelled "8K HDMI" or "DP 2.1" without certification details are frequently the root cause of no-signal issues with the GTR9 Pro's high-bandwidth video outputs.
- Change BIOS primary display priority. Restart the GTR9 Pro and press Del repeatedly to enter the UEFI BIOS. Navigate to Advanced → AMD CBS → NBIO Common Options → GFX Configuration. Locate Primary Video Device or Primary Display and change it from Auto to IGFX (integrated graphics) — this forces the BIOS to route the HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 ports as the primary display outputs instead of the USB4 DP Alt Mode outputs. Save with F10 and reboot. On some GTR9 Pro BIOS versions (v1.04–v1.08), this option may be labelled Integrated Graphics Controller set to Enabled with Primary Video set to IGD.
- Install the latest AMD Adrenalin driver with a clean install. Press Win + X → Device Manager → expand Display adapters → right-click "AMD Radeon 8060S" → Uninstall device (check "Attempt to remove the driver for this device"). Reboot (Windows will install a basic VGA driver). Then download the latest Adrenalin driver (24.10.45.02 or newer for Strix Halo — available from AMD.com or the Beelink GTR9 Pro support page). Run the installer, select Factory Reset (this removes all previous driver profiles), and choose Standard installation. This clears any corrupted display pipe allocation that was preventing HDMI/DP output.
- Disable Windows Fast Startup. Open Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → click Change settings that are currently unavailable → uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended) → click Save changes. Fast Startup hybrid shutdown is a known cause of EDID read failures on the GTR9 Pro, especially when using high-end monitors with non-standard timing parameters.
- Reset the Windows display topology. If the monitor is detected but shows a black screen or "No Signal," press Win + P repeatedly to cycle through display modes (PC screen only → Duplicate → Extend → Second screen only). After three full cycles, land on Extend then press Win + K to open the Connect pane and select your monitor. If the monitor appears in Display Settings but says "Not active," scroll down in Settings → System → Display, click your inactive monitor, and scroll to Multiple displays → set Extend desktop to this display.
- Update the GTR9 Pro BIOS to the latest version. Check the Beelink GTR9 Pro support page for the latest BIOS — version v1.10 or newer includes dedicated fixes for "DisplayPort 2.1 initialisation after USB4 enumeration" and "HDMI 2.1 FRL link training stability." Download the BIOS file, format a USB drive to FAT32, and copy the BIOS file to the root. Boot the GTR9 Pro, press Del to enter BIOS, navigate to Advanced → EFI Flash Utility, select the BIOS file, and confirm the flash. Do not power off the system during the flash process — allow the system to reboot automatically after completion.
- Test with USB4 displays isolated. If you have displays connected via USB4-to-HDMI or USB4-to-DisplayPort adapters, disconnect them temporarily. The GTR9 Pro's AMD display controller can become confused when USB4 DP Alt Mode displays are connected at the same time as HDMI/DP displays. With USB4 displays disconnected, test each HDMI 2.1 and DP 2.1 port individually. If all work without USB4 displays, the issue is display pipe sharing — connect USB4 displays one at a time, rebooting between each addition, to determine which combination triggers the pipe exhaustion. A workaround is to use the two USB4 ports for monitors and the two dedicated HDMI/DP ports for monitors, keeping the total display count at 2–3 instead of 4 to leave buffer display pipes unallocated.
