Causes

  • Insufficient power to the hub — USB devices like external SSDs, portable hard drives, and bus-powered USB microphones draw significant current. If the Revodok Pro 106 is not connected to an external PD charger and is running solely on the laptop's USB-C port power budget, peripherals may fail to initialize or drop out intermittently under load.
  • Outdated or corrupted USB controller drivers — Windows and macOS rely on the USB host controller driver to manage device enumeration. A corrupted driver cache, outdated Intel/AMD chipset driver, or a recent OS update that introduced a regression can cause USB hubs to fail to recognize devices on specific ports.
  • USB-C cable seating issues — the Revodok Pro 106's attached 30cm cable can become partially dislodged by subtle movements, especially on a laptop that sits on a lap or soft surface. A slight disconnect can cause all USB devices to vanish and reappear repeatedly.
  • USB 3.0/3.2 electromagnetic interference — the hub's 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 data lines radiate broadband noise at 2.4 GHz. If a USB 3.0 device is plugged into one of the data ports and a 2.4 GHz wireless device (mouse, keyboard) is nearby, the interference can cause the wireless receiver to lose sync and appear as a disconnect to the OS.

How to Fix

  1. Connect the UGREEN Revodok Pro 106 to an external USB-C PD charger (65W or higher). Plug the charger into the hub's dedicated PD input port before connecting the hub to the laptop. This provides the hub with a dedicated power supply, ensuring all USB ports can deliver their full 900mA per port without competing with the laptop's power budget.
  2. Fully reseat the hub's USB-C cable into your laptop's port. Disconnect both ends (hub from laptop, all peripherals from hub), wait 10 seconds, and reconnect with a firm push until you feel the cable click into place. Avoid wiggling the connection — the attached cable is strain-relieved but a side load can break the electrical contact.
  3. Update your USB controller drivers and chipset drivers. On Windows: open Device Manager, expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers," right-click each "USB Root Hub" and "Generic USB Hub," select "Update driver," then "Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick > USB Hub" — select the latest Microsoft driver. Then install the latest chipset driver from your laptop manufacturer's website (Intel/AMD). On macOS: simply install the latest macOS system update, which includes all USB stack fixes.
